What is the Portugal Golden Visa Program?
A

It is a Residency by Investment Program under which a Temporary Residence Permit is granted to a non-EU/EEA/Switzerland citizen (and his/her eligible family members) who wishes to immigrate to Portugal by making a qualifying investment.

What is the duration of the Temporary Residence (TR) Permit?
A

Under all Golden Visa options, the TR Permit is initially granted for period of 1 year. Thereafter, it can be renewed for subsequent 2-year periods. After 5 years, you & your family can apply for Permanent Residency (PR). After a 6-year period, you & your family are eligible to apply for Portuguese Citizenship, subject to certain requirements being met.

What are the Residency requirements for the Portugal Golden Visa & other visa options?
A

All Portugal Golden Visa options require the applicants to reside in Portugal for only 7 days a year. Hence, it is a very beneficial option for those who do not wish to reside in Portugal. Other visa options like the D7 & D2 visa require applicants to reside in Portugal for at least 6 months in a year.

Who is eligible to apply for the Portugal Golden Visa?
A

Anyone who is at least 18 years of age, is a non-EU/EEA/Swiss citizen, has no criminal record, has never been banned from the Schengen area, and provides proof of adequate health insurance.

Who are the eligible “Family Members” you can include in your application for all Portugal visa options?
A

Spouse, children under the age of 18 years, children under the age of 25 years provided they are unmarried & are financially dependent on the parents and enrolled as full-time students, parents of the main applicant/spouse who are over 65 years of age & financially dependent, and siblings who are under 18 years of age.

Do Golden Visa investments need to be made only by the main applicant?
A

No. It can also be made through a single-member (proprietorship) company fully owned by the main applicant.

Can I replace my Golden visa investment within the initial 5 years?
A

Yes, provided the new investment is of the same investment type and the old investment is disposed only after the new investment has been made.

What is the HQA Visa?
A

The Portugal Highly Qualified Activity (HQA) visa is a specialized pathway that has been prioritized by SEF (Portugal immigration agency) over the Golden visas & other schemes. Applicants for this visa are mandatorily required to be granted their visa within 30 days, thus making this visa the fastest route to Portugal Residency. The HQA visa allows entrepreneurs, professionals & investors to become the founder & 100% owner of their new Portuguese business based upon the commercialization of a R & D driven innovative idea in collaboration with a government-approved research institution in Portugal.
