Working Holiday Visas
Work & Holiday Visa (Subclass 462)
This visa enables young people to holiday & work in Australia for 12 months. This visa is only available to citizens of countries with which Australia has a work & holiday arrangement. These countries are :
- Argentina
- Austria
- Chile
- China
- Czech Republic
- Ecuador
- Greece
- Hungary
- Indonesia
- Israel
- Luxembourg
- Malaysia
- Peru
- Poland
- Portugal
- San Marino
- Singapore
- Slovak Republic
- Slovenia
- Spain
- Thailand
- Turkey
- United States of America
- Uruguay
- Vietnam
Some criteria to be met for this visa are –
- You must be between 18 & 30 years old.
- You cannot include family members in your application.
- Applicants of certain countries must meet the “Education” requirement.
- You must also meet the “English Language” requirement.
- Applicants of certain countries have to provide a “Letter of Support” from your government.
- You must work for the required minimum period, in “Northern” or “Regional” Australia, during the 12 months.
- You can only do “specified” work in approved industries & areas.
If you meet certain criteria on your first Work & Holiday visa, you can apply for a SECOND Work & Holiday visa for a similar period of 12 months.
In a recent amendment, you are now allowed to apply for a THIRD Work & Holiday visa for a similar period of 12 months if you meet certain eligibility criteria.
Working Holiday Visa (Subclass 417)
This visa encourages cultural exchange & closer ties between Australia & certain countries by allowing young persons, who are citizens of these countries, to have an extended holiday supplemented by short-term employment, with special focus on regional Australia.
The eligible countries are :
- Belgium
- Canada
- Cyprus
- Denmark
- Estonia
- Finland
- France
- Germany
- Hong Kong
- Ireland
- Italy
- Japan
- Malta
- Netherlands
- Norway
- South Korea
- Sweden
- Taiwan
- United Kingdom
Some criteria to be met for this visa are –
- You must be between 18 & 30 years old.
- Citizens of Canada, France & Ireland can be between 18 & 35 years old.
- You cannot include family members in your application.
- You must work for the required minimum period, in “Regional” Australia, during the 12 months.
- You can only do “specified” work in approved industries & areas.
If you meet certain criteria on your first Working Holiday visa, you can apply for a SECOND Working Holiday visa for a similar period of 12 months.
