Business Talent
The Business Talent – Subclass 132 visa is a permanent visa. Unlike the 2-stage arrangements applicable to the Subclass 188 & Subclass 888 visas, this visa allows applicants to directly acquire permanent residency status without having to go through the 2-stage process.
The Business Talent visa is for business persons with the most substantial business backgrounds & capital to invest and who have the highest level of State/Territory government support.
The Business Talent visa has 2 streams :
- Significant Business History Stream
- Venture Capital Entrepreneur Stream
Significant Business History Stream
This visa is for experienced business owners, who propose to establish a new business or develop an existing business that the nominating Australian State/Territory has determined is of exceptional economic benefit to that State/Territory.
Some criteria to be met for this stream are as follows :
- Applicant and spouse must not have a history of involvement in business activities that are of a nature that is not generally acceptable in Australia.
- Age specific criteria apply.
- Business & assets criteria must be met.
- You can include “members of the family unit” in your application.
- You must have a genuine & realistic commitment to establish & maintain a qualifying business or investment activity in Australia.
- You must be nominated by a State/Territory government agency.
- In addition to having to meet DHA criteria, you must also meet all criteria of your nominating State/Territory.
- Applicants must be familiar with the intending state/territory in which they intend to undertake business and/or investment activities & ensure that they will meet that state/territory criteria for nomination.
- You must be invited by the Department to apply for this visa.
- English language is not a mandatory requirement. However, for every applicant (primary or secondary), who is above the age of 18 years, who cannot demonstrate “Functional “ level English, a second visa application charge needs to be paid.
- All applicants must meet Health Requirements.
- All applicants must meet Character Requirements.
Venture Capital Entrepreneur Stream
This visa is for individuals who have sourced venture capital funding of at least AUD 1 million from an Australian venture capital firm to establish a new high potential & high-value business idea or develop an existing high potential & high-value business idea in Australia.
Some criteria to be met for this stream are as follows :
- Applicant and spouse must not have a history of involvement in business activities that are of a nature that is not generally acceptable in Australia.
- Applicant must have an appropriate background & be genuinely skilled in managing or owning a business in the area in which VC funding is sought.
- You must provide evidence of your business career & your intentions in Australia.
- You must have a genuine & realistic commitment to establish & maintain a qualifying business or investment activity in Australia.
- You must be nominated by a State/Territory government agency.
- In addition to having to meet DHA criteria, you must also meet all criteria of your nominating State/Territory.
- Applicants must be familiar with the intending state/territory in which they intend to undertake business and/or investment activities & ensure that they will meet that state/territory criteria for nomination.
